Crochet Christening Booties

main photo.jpg

I had recently made a christening baby set for my friend. This bootie is part of the set and is decorated with satin lace and pearl beads.

The pearls make it look so adorable and cute.. Just delivered it :) Waiting for the big day to see it worn by the little Angel.

This pattern is an adaptation from the pattern here. I have added my own little twist to the pattern given. A base shell

Materials

Light Worsted 100% acrylic yarn - White (6 ply)

Crochet hook 4 mm

Two pieces of ribbon, about 20 inches each

pearl beads

Safety pin

Shell: (2dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in same space
dc8tog: make 8 unfinished dc, then finish them all together

DC - Double crochet

Sl St - Slip stitch

Booties - 1

Round 1: ch 17, 4 dc in 3rd ch form hook, 13 dc across, 5 dc in last ch, 13 dc across working in original chain. Join with sl st.

Round 2: ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in each of next 4 dc, 13 dc, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, 13 dc. Join with sl st.

Round 3: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st around. Join with sl st.

Round 4: ch 3, dc in back loop only in each sc around. Join with sl st.

Round 5: ch 3, dc in next 22 dc, {dc2tog over next 2 dc} 5 times, dc in next 13 dc. Join with sl st. Fasten off, wave in end.

Front of the Bootie

Half-round 6: On the front of the bootie locate the central stitch (it’s the 3rd dc2tog), count 8 stitches to the right, attach yarn in 8th st; ch 2, dc in next st, {dc2tog over next 2 st} 8 times. Turn.

Half-round 7: dc8tog over next 8 st. Turn.

Shell

Round 8: ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in same space, skip next half-round, shell in end of next half-round, *skip next 3 dc, shell in next dc* 6 times, shell in end of next half-round. Join with sl st to beginning shell.

Rounds 9: sl st to next ch-2, ch 3, (dc, Add a bead, 2dc) all in same space, shell over next shell around. Join with sl st to beginning shell.

So for adding a bead you should have threaded in the bead before. So when you add a bead, just insert the bead and continue crocheting.

Add Lace

Cut the lace to the desired length you want. Take it in and up the shell holes. Bring it to the front and tie them into a bow.

Lower Base Shells

This adds elegance to the booties. I love this part.

Insert hook to one of the front loop of DC at the base. 5 DC in the next stitch and Sl St into the next stitch. Repeat this across.

Thats it your little bootie is ready.

Ruffle Flower

You can use any crochet flower pattern. I have used a ruffle flower.

sl knot

R1 – ch2, sc 8 on the second chain from hook, slst on the ch at the beginning of the round.

R2 – *ch2, hdc on next st, ch2, slst onto the same st, repeat * 8 times.

R3 – ch, *sc on next st of R1, ch2, repeat * 8 times, slst on the first ch of the round. Bring the 8 chain loops to the back of the work.or you can do the sc and ch2 directly at the back of the work.

R4 – ch, sc on chain loop, ch2, dc3, ch2, sc on the same loop, repeat the same on the next loop until you have done all the 8 loops.

This pattern is adapted from the link here.
