Crochet Card Holder

I created this Crochet Card Holder to enter the Knitting and Crochet 2022 Contest
I wanted to design a quick and easy project that could be completed in a couple hours. I find it is the best feeling when you can complete a project in one go, it is very satisfying and gives you a sense of accomplishment.
And to be honest, it constrats with all the on-going projects I have on the side and which are waiting patiently somewhere in my drawers to be continued.
This project is also easily customisable : yarn colors, shape and color of the button.
As it is quick to complete it can be a good gift idea as well.
If you make one, post a picture in the comments. I'd be happy to see your work.

How to Begin

Start by making a chain : Chain 13
Round 1

1 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in next 10 ch, 3 sc in last ch (turn as you work in order to work the other side of the chain), sc in next 10 ch, 2 sc in last ch (same ch where 1 sc is worked in)
[26 sc]
Round 2 / Round 3 / Round 4

Round 2 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
Round 3 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
Round 4 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
After Round 4, I suggest you fold the piece, to start and give it it's shape. You will work next round by starting in the stitches facing you.
Round 5

Let go of the mohair strand but don't cut it yet
ch 2, *2dc-cl in sc, skip 1 sc;
rep from * around; sl-st to 1st dc
[13 2dc-cl]
Round 6

ch 2, *2dc-cl in ch-sp (in between the 2dc of the 2dc-cl)
rep from * around; sl-st to 1st dc
[13 2dc-cl]
Round 7

Pick up mohair strand again, don't pull too tight.
ch1, *1 sc in ch-sp, 1 sc in space between two 2dc-cl
rep from * around; sl-st to 1st dc
[26 sc]
Round 8 / Round 9 / Round 10

Round 8 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
Round 9 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
Round 10 : 1 sc in each stitch around [26 sc]
Round 11

1 sc in next 6 sc, ch 16, 1 sc in next 20 sc
[26 sc + ch 16]
Round 12

Let go of the mohair strand but don't cut it yet
Ch1, 1 hdc in next 6 sc, 1 hdc in next 2 sc from Round 11, 1 hdc in next 20 sc, sl-st to 1st hdc
[28 sc]
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Sew the Button

Sew the button to the card holder. I placed the tip in between two 2dc-cl, and sewed around the corresponding sc from Round 8. Attach it securely, tie a knot and weave in end.
You can use a button or make one with polymer clay like mine.
For my polymer clay button : I rolled a layer of clay, cut a heart shape, put two holes in the middle and baked it in the oven as per the package instructions (20min at 130°C)
Final Result

And voila, you can put your cards in your lovely crochet card holder.
