Hi!

In this instructable I will be showing you how to crochet a simple cute bee

This is not an exact pattern. Letting you choose the size of the bee and make some changes.

These bees are simple, easy to make, adjustable and really cute.

I recommend using a stitch marker, so you will know where the lines start and end, you can also use a clip or a keychain if you don't have one

Stitches you need to know:

✰ Single crochet- sc

✰ Increase (simply two single crochets in the same stitch)- inc

✰ Decrease - dc

✰ Know how to do a magic circle

(st is a shortcut for stitches)

If you don't know how to crochet or any of the stitches mentions above, you can look it up and easily find tutorials for them

Supplies

✰ Yellow, Black and White yarn, you can use whatever yarn you like (my favorites for this are the thick fluffy ones)

✰ A crochet hook that matches your yarn

✰ Polyester Fiberfill

✰ Amigurumi eyes, or buttons + a needle and string for sewing the eyes if they don't have a connecter

✰ Thick needle - for the yarn(doesn't have to be sharp)

Step 1 - Create the Base of the Bee

PXL_20210113_154641897.jpg
PXL_20210113_155304137.jpg

✰ Round 1: With your yellow yarn, create a magic circle with 6 sc

✰ Round 2: 6 inc - 12 st

✰ Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 18 st

✰Round 4: 2 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 24 st

From now, you can do as many more rounds as you like, until you are happy with the size of your base

Continue with the same pattern, add one more Single Crochet before every Increase each round you go.

Round 5: 3 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 30 st

Round 6: 4 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 36 st

Keep going on with that pattern until the base is the size you like

Step 2 - Continue the Body

Remember the amount of single crochets you did in the last round before an increase (not including the repeats, just once). You will need this number later

Now we will crochet the stripes made from four rows, black and yellow, if you see that four rows is not enough or too much, you can change the number of rows below to your preference.

Starting the round count from the start because we will be at a different number

✰ Rounds 1-4: Single crochet in every stitch (yellow)

Now connect the black yarn, to do that, while doing a sc, you under the stitch and take the yarn, now instead of looping the yellow yarn around the crochet hook, take the brown (see picture), do one more sc and then cut the yellow yarn. Then tie the edge on the yellow yarn and the black yarn- to make sure it wont unravel.

✰ Rounds 5-8: Single crochet in every stitch (black)

Now, change back to yellow, the same way you did with changing to black, do a sc but take yellow in the last hoop, do another sc, cut the black yarn and tie them together, make sure you are tying all the knots on the same side, that side will be the inside- the side you wont see.

✰ Rounds 9-12: Single crochet in every stitch (yellow)

Change to black as previously

✰ Rounds 13-16: Single crochet in every stitch (black)

Change to yellow

✰ Rounds 17-20: Single crochet in every stitch (yellow)

This is were I stop, if you want to have 3 black stripes instead of 2- crochet another black stripe and yellow stripe

Step 3 - Add Your Eyes

Now, before stuffing and finishing the bees body, we will add eyes.

Add the eyes to the front of the bee, the part from where we started, the base. Either by sewing or if you have eyes with a connector, with the connector. Make sure you are connecting the eyes to the front, the side without the knots

Step 4 - Finish the Body

PXL_20210117_163003497.jpg

We will stuff the body and then finish it.

Stuff the body with polyester fiberfill or your stuffing of choice, to your preference.

Finish crocheting the body:

Remember that number I told you to save? Now you will need it. If you forgot it (no worries it happens to everyone XD), simply count the amount of stitches in a row on the stripes, divide that by six, and take away 2 from that number. That's your number. (Stitches/6 - 2)

✰ Round 1: Single crochets for the number you have, dc

✰ Round 2: Single crochets for the number you have minus 1, dc

✰ Round 3: Single crochets for the number you have minus 2, dc

Keep doing that, doing one less Single crochets every round until you have 6 stitches left

Then, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for closing the hole.

You can do this step either with a thick needle(not sharp) or with your crochet hook:

Crochet Hook:

From the inside of the gap left, starting from where the yarn tail starts, enter a stitch from inside to outside, take the tail with the hook and pull it through, move to the next stitch until you have pulled the tail through all 6 stitches. Then pull the tail tight. With your crochet hook, pull the leftover tail into the body of the bee where it can not be seen.

Needle:

Attach the needle to the to tail, pull it through from inside to outside of each of the 6 stitches and the pull at the end. Now sew in into some stitches until the tail is finished.

You have finished the bees body! Now there is just left to give it some wings and your done :D

Step 5 - Make Wings

PXL_20210117_171406317.jpg

To make the wings, using your white yarn:

✰ Round 1: 6 sc into a magic circle - 6 st

✰ Round 2: 6 inc - 12 st

✰ Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 18 st

✰ Round 4: 2 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 24 st

✰ Round 5: 3 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 30 st

✰ Round 6: repeat round 5 - 30 st

✰ Round 7: 4 sc, 1 inc, repeat 6 times - 36 st

✰ Round 8: repeat round 7 - 36 st

Keep doing that until you are happy with the size of your wings: Add one Single Crochet before the Increase, repeat 6 times, then do the same amount of sc before the inc in the next row. Then add one sc again, repeat the round and continue until you like the size.

The wings can be small cute wings or bigger wings, your choice! I am making small wings :)

When you are done, cut of the yarn leaving a long edge to sew with and pull through the last loop

You need to make two of these

Step 6 - Sew the Wings

PXL_20210117_205810237.jpg
PXL_20210117_205815838.jpg

After crocheting the two wings, find the middle in the top side of your wingless bee, thread the yarn tail into the needle and sew it on to the middle as seen in the picture. Then sew on the other wing and you are done :D

Now you have an adorable bee

If you want, you can also sew in with some pink yarn blush where the cheeks are supposed to be (under the eye and a bit to the side)

I hope you liked this tutorial and you now have a cute fuzzy bee now to cuddle with, be cute in your room or give as a gift. If you have any questions feel free to ask and if any of you make it I'd love to hear how it turned out :)
