Crochet Applique Hair Accessories

Here I have presented few simple hair clips that even beginner crocheter can try. I love the way it looks. They're quick, take little yarn, and are great for craft shows. Here are 4 such hair clips - Smiling Monkey, Butterfly, Bow and flying love bird.
The tutorials are simple to follow. Make few for your tiny tots too.
Abbreviations:
Sl St = Slip Stitch
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Tr = Triple Crochet
dtr = double treble stitch
Materials Needed:
Tic Tac clips, Scissors, needle, thread, yarn
Little Monkey Clip

Materials:
Size G Crochet Hook
Yarn - Cream, Brown
Paper Clip
Step 1: Magic ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Monkey - Step 2

Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around (12 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in each stitch around (24 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (36 SC)
Monkey - Step 3

Round 5: Skip one stitch and make 6 DC all in next stitch, skip one stitch, make a SC in next two, skip a stitch, 6 DC all in one. Now skip a stitch and join with a sl st.
In this step you can see how the head portion is turning out. Now it is time to change the color of the yarn.
Monkey - Step 4

Change to brown yarn. Do SC in each stitch around. Do make a DC in the stitches between the humps on top. There will be a small dip in the head region due to the stitches in the previous row. Hence the DC with the brown yarn will cover it.
Join to first SC.
Monkey - Step 5 Ears

To make the ears:
Attach yarn to one side of head, chain 1 and skip a stitch, make 6 DC all in next stitch, join with a slip stitch in next. Fasten off.
Do the same on the other side of head attach yarn. When doing on the other side take note of the stitches such that both the ears are placed symmetrically. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Monkey - Step 5 Finish

Stitch on eyes, nose and half smile with black yarn. One simple thing you could do here is while stitching the black yarn follow the crochet stitch lines especially for the half smile mouth.
Glue It - Monkey

Take a Hair clip or Tic Tacs and stick the Little monkey applique onto the it. Leave it to dry.
