This recipe is perfect and very delicious. These can be appetizers, or just a delicious cheese snack to be shared with friends and family. I know this recipe may look hard but it is worth it in the end. :)

Supplies

  • one sheet of frozen puff Pastry
  • 1/2 cup of Cheese of your choosing ( I choose a cheddar cheese)
  • Parmesan
  • Italian spices (I used dried oregano and basil, also some red pepper flakes)
  • One egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of black pepper

  • For the marinara sauce
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • A splash of olive oil (one tablespoon)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes ( you can add however many you like depending on your heat preference)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Start the Sauce

  • Before starting the sauce, pull out the frozen pastry to let it start thawing
  • Chop up 2 tablespoons of onions, 2 cloves of garlic and open up your can of tomatoes
  • I would also measure the dried oregano basil and the red pepper flakes out and then put those all in one bowl
  • In a medium sauce pan add a splash of olive oil and let it heat up
  • Once hot add your onions and seasonings in to the oil
  • Let the onions cook until soft (about 3 to 4 minutes)

add in the garlic and let that cook for about one minute or until the garlic is fragrant

Add in the Tomatoes

  • Add in your diced can tomatoes and give the sauce a mix (if you like you can use 1 whole fresh tomato I recommend still using caned)
  • Let your sauce simmer for 30 minutes

Blend It All Up!

  • Once your sauce is done simmering, take a immersion stick blender and blend up all of the tomatoes
  • Blend until you get a consistence you like ( I left mine a little chunky)
  • Set the sauce to the side when making the breadsticks
