Fun DIY Create a Tissue Holder Using a Plastic Container

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Do any of you have any plastic containers at home? I recently finished a product and after cleaning the container, I wondered what I could reuse it for. I decided to make a tissue holder. It's a simple project and a great way to reuse a plastic container with a lid. I'll guide you through each step and provide some suggestions. If you're ready, let's make your personalized tissue holder.

Supplies

- Plastic container

- Decorative paper or paper bag

- Acrylic paint

- Scissors

- Hot glue

- Paintbrush

- Craft knife

(You may also need sandpaper and floral cutters or other snips)

Applying Paint to the Container

Begin by applying several coats of acrylic paint with a paintbrush, allowing each coat to dry.

Cutting Decorative Paper and Adding Mod Podge

Next, use scissors to cut out the decorative sections you want for your container. I'm using a decorative paper bag I bought in a pack at my local Dollar Tree.

After cutting out each decorative section, use a paintbrush to apply Mod Podge while adding the decorative cutouts to the container.

Creating a Hole in the Plastic Lid

You are now ready to create a hole in the lid. Start by heating your glue gun to help create a hole. Press the tip of your glue gun down in the middle of the lid. The heat will eventually create a tiny hole. Carefully use a craft knife to carve out more plastic to create a bigger hole. Make sure the hole is big enough for tissues to pull through. You can use floral snips to clip off any remaining plastic.

After creating the hole, use sandpaper to smooth any jagged areas around the hole. Keep in mind that you can also use a drill bit to create the hole in the lid.

Adding Decorative Paper and Paint

After cutting a hole in the lid, use a paintbrush and Mod Podge to attach decorative paper to the lid. Finally, I decided to apply a coat of pink paint around the top of my container before adding the lid.

It also serves as a lovely decoration for any space. Additionally, you can use the container to store pens and pencils, making it a great addition to a desk.
