Add the Outer Ring

In this step you will use several different shapes to create a group of concentric rings with a cylinder in the center.

For rings or circles to be concentric, they must have the same center point.

Instructions

  1. Drag a Tube shape onto the workplane and size it to be 8mm square and 2mm tall.
  2. Continue to the next step.

Add an Inner Ring

Let's repeat what you did in the last step, but this time make the ring smaller.

Instructions

  1. Drag a Tube shape onto the workplane and size it to be 5mm square and 2mm tall.
  2. Continue to the next step.

Add the Cylinder for the Center

The last shape we need to create our concentric rings is a cylinder. The cylinder will sit right in the center of the rings you just created.

Let's add the final shape and then we can align the shapes.

Instructions

  1. Drag a cylinder onto the workplane and size it to be 2mm square and 2mm tall.
  2. Continue to the next step.

Now that you have all the shapes for the pattern, you need to align them properly.

Instructions

  1. Select the 3 shapes you just created.
Hold the Shift key down on the keyboard and then left click on each of the rings and the cylinder.
  2. With all 3 shapes selected, click the Align command from the adjust menu on the toolbar.
  3. Click the middle dots on each side of the Align tool to align the centers of the shapes.
  4. Continue to the next step.

Group the Rings

Almost done with this shape, but you need to group it to make it a single shape. This will make it easier to move the shape around to position it on your stamp.

Instructions

  1. Select the shapes that you just aligned. With the shapes aligned you can use a window selection to select the shapes you just aligned. Left click and drag a window across the shapes to select them all at once.
  2. With all 3 shapes selected, click the Group button on the toolbar. This will combine the shapes into one single shape that can easily be moved around in the next lesson. When you click group it will not look like anything happened, but you will know it worked if you can click on any of the rings and all become selected.
  3. Continue to the next lesson.
