Crayon Ghost Spider Portrait

0.jpg

For this craft, I did one of my favorite superheroes. This picture is made from crayons and other standard art supplies. You can also make this using acrylic paints. I hope you enjoy making it.

Supplies

For this project, you will need the following:

  1. Paint( White, Crimson)
  2. Paint Brush( Small sized)
  3. Tape
  4. Metal containers( If you don't have one, you can use foil and make a little metal container.)
  5. Crayons( 3 Blacks, 2 Violet Reds, and 9+ Whites.)
  6. Scrapers
  7. Sharpies( Thick and Thin)
  8. A Drawing or a Coloring Page
  9. Tape
  10. Oven
  11. Hot Glue Gun(Optional)
  12. Knife
  13. Glass ( I used a picture frame glass)

Draw or print out an image. If you have words, remember to flip them, so it is backward.

After the picture is printed, tape the image onto the glass and paint the words first. I used white, but you can use any color. After the paint is dried, trace the picture and outline the words with a sharpie. I used the smaller sharpie to outline the spider. When the sharpie is dried, paint the white lines inside the hood. You might need two layers of paint.

This is what it looks like on the other side. Before you do the next step, turn your oven to 275 degrees.

After the paint is dried, use a hot glue gun and border the violet-red areas. The hot glue will help the crayon not to go into the other spots. Then peel your violet-red crayons, and put them into a metal container. After your oven is ready, put your crayons in.

After the crayons are melted, carefully take them out of the oven. Then carefully pour the melted crayon into the spots. When the Crayons are all cooled off, I carefully peeled off the hot glue. If you mess up, all you have to do is scrap it off and melt it again. Since the colored lines around her eyes are so skinny, I painted them instead.

After the first crayon color has cooled off, melt the black crayons. This time I didn't use the hot glue gun. Instead, I poured the crayons on using the lines. After it cooled off, I used a knife and cut the excess off.

I did the same thing for the white crayons. (Halfway through, I ran out of white crayons, so I had to use white paint for the shirt part of the suit.)

This is what the back and front look like. I hope you will have fun making it.
