Crayon Art Using an Air Fryer!

Picture 7 .jpg

Did you know that you can use an air fryer to melt crayons? I found this out by trial and error. I first tried to melt crayons by using a hot glue gun. In case you didn't know, you can put a crayon in the hot glue gun to melt them. Anyway, when I tried this, my crayons were too skinny for the glue gun. Then I came up with the idea of melting them in the air fryer. In this instructable, I will show you how to make crayon art a unique way!

Supplies

  • A canvas of any size
  • A silhouette with an umbrella
  • Lots of crayons
  • An air fryer (I used an air fryer oven, but you can try using a regular one. If you try it let me know!)
  • Aluminium foil cupcake wrappers
  • A large piece of paper

Gluing the Silhouette

Glue the silhouette onto your canvas.

Break Some Crayons!

Peel the paper off the crayons, break them into smaller pieces, then put them into the aluminium cupcake wrapper. Also, group the crayons together by color. For example, make the green crayons into one group, purple into another, and so on. I found out that if you're angry, breaking the crayons is kind of relaxing. Or maybe it's just me kinda cause I'm kinda weird.

Melt Your Crayons!

Put the crayons in the air fryer and set it to 200 degrees fahrenheit at five minutes

Prep Your Canvas!

While you're waiting for the crayons to melt, tape a piece of paper over your silhouette so it covers it. This way, wax won't get all over the silhouette. Next, place the drop cloth or large piece of paper, or whatever you're using onto a flat surface, and lean your canvas on something so it stands at an angle. Once your crayons are melted, take them out of the air fryer quickly and pour it onto the canvas so it runs down it. If you don't do it quickly, the crayons will harden, and you would have to melt more crayons.

Pour, Pour, Pour!

Keep pouring your crayons onto the canvas until you are satisfied.

Unveil Your Masterpiece!

Take off your piece of paper and let the wax set for a few minutes. Then display your piece of art where people can see it! Please post some pictures if you made it, and feel free to ask any questions! Thank you!
