Cranes Mobile

top.jpg

Hey everyone.

I want to share with you "my" version of branch & paper cranes origami mobile.

When I was a kid in the nineties, when mobile was mobile and not a cellphone, My hobby was to go to the small forest near our home and take a walk. These personal and family small walking trips remind me lot of fun and beautiful days. One of my favorite things to do during these walks was to find branches and play with them – the 3 branches fly game, battle of swords, or just pretend that I have a magic stick.

My grandma, who was a craft teacher, came with us one day to our walk and told me a story. The story was an old Japanese tale about a girl who made 1,000 origamis cranes and deserves in love and marriage and even in a wish.

This story was so excited for me and to this day we took a branch and made our first mobile together.

2. when finish take a second to look at your work – smile!

3. Notes:

· The folding of each bird is supposed to take7-15 min depends on your level with the origami skill.

· The number of cranes that are required depends on your papers, brunch, and your time.

· If you are starting to work with rectangular paper - cut it into a square as accurate as you can

1. Take some colors and design your special bird as you wish. Don’t be afraid to squeeze them gently during this pross.

2. This is a great time to design the wire too – use some beads for the fun.

3. If the mobile is for a gift you can add a personal note.

1. Place the cranes near the branch you have and make sure they all have place in a pretty way that you like.

2. Rope the wire to the edges of the branch – you can use 2 parts or just one. It is depending in the hanging way you are going to use (rod or nail).

3. Apply glue to the belly of the carne and press it to the branch in its spot. Again, Don’t be afraid to squeeze them gently during this pross.

4. Let the glue dry 10-30 minutes. You know your branch ready whenever you pick it up from the table and the birds don’t fall or shake.

Some Extra Tips:

1. For parents / teachers – take advantage of the opportunity and talk with the kids about tales, culture, birds, origami, accuracy, determination, ricycling or any other related issue. Working together is great time for influence our little ones.

2. Personalized your birds – you can draw persons you know as birds, choose specific papers or even keep special branches from special event \ tour you took.

3. If you are already married or just don’t believe in tales feel free to change the carnes into any animal or origami you wish for

Last Words for the Makers..
