Crafty Pink Art Box
This is a fun project where you can create a pretty box to store your treasures in! It's fairly easy and made with inexpensive materials you can find at home!
Supplies
- Box
- Paper (A few different colors)
- Scissors
- Glue (Liquid and glue-stick)
- Old jeans
OPTIONAL:
- Drawing mediums
- Tape
- Bracelet String
- Anything else you want!
Prepare to Cover the Box
To start, choose a color of paper you like. Cut out pieces that will cover most of your box. As you can see, I cut out all the pieces I needed and laid them out like a net of the box.
Cover the Box
Glue the pieces of paper you cut out to the box using liquid glue. I used Elmer's Glue-All, because it has always worked well for me. As you can see in the pictures, you might need to trim the edges or reinforce peeling corners with tape or glue. But when you're finished you should have a nice, plain pink box!
Make the Heart Pocket
Cut out one of the back pockets of the jeans. Fold it in half and cut a teardrop shape out of the side that would be the middle. Unfold, and you will have a heart! Save both the pocket and the cut-out heart. Glue a piece of paper to the inside of the pocket and let it dry.
Improve the Inside of the Box
Cut out a large piece of the jeans and glue it to the inside of the box. If you'd like you can leave the edges ruffled for a stylish look, like I did.
Make Flowers for the Box
Cut out two small circles and several strips of paper that widen in the middle. Fold them in half without creasing the round end, and glue the ends together. Glue the "petals" onto one of the circles, then glue the last circle on the other side to finish your flower.
More Decorations
You are welcome to make more flowers to add to your box. Gather everything else you want to decorate your box with, including the pocket and the cut-out heart, and any other pretty little things you have.
Add Decorations to Your Box
Gather everything you want to use and add it to your box! You can use glue or tape, whichever you prefer. I glued on my decorations, and I even glued on a piece of string to twirl around the flower and end in a heart!
Finishing Touches
This is totally optional, but if you want you can use markers or crayons or whatever you want to add to the box! You can draw hearts or flowers to go with the theme, or you can draw something totally different! It's entirely up to you.
The Finished Product!
Congratulations! You have now finished your box! You can fill it with personal items, give it to someone special, or simply have it on display to show off your fantastic art skills!
No matter how your box turned out, it is wonderful, because variety is what makes art fun!
