Craft Your Own Professional Homemade E-Liquid Device -DIY

IMG_4578.JPG

in this instructable, I will be showing you how to make a professional DIY E-Liquid Device all by yourself, and with my guidance, I am 100% sure that you can succeed, just order the files and follow the steps carefully, if there is something unclear put it in the comments and we will discuss it, and if you make one please share it with us

Supplies

Soldering iron

solder paste

heating plate that can go up to 250°C

oscilloscope (not mandatory but it's better to have one )

bench power supply (you can use batteries or a basic power supply )

multimeter with high amp ratings and high accuracy (mandatory )

the design files from here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/home-made-professional-vape

in the link above you will find all the components to buy and the design files for the PCBs, the Gerber files, and the schematics

Watch the Youtube Video

How to make a DIY vape- professional homemade DIY vape - Ecig! vape box mod.. ARDUINO !!

to have more information on the E-Liquid Device, watch this video it shows how I made it, my process of designing it, and the safety features I designed in it

3D Print the STL Files in the Folder

3d print parts.PNG
Capture 5.PNG
Capture 6.PNG

download the stl files from the folder and print them as you like

I have put my printing settings in the pdf but you can print them however you like

probably a 100% for all the parts is a good choice also since they are not that thick

files for STL file here : https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/home-made-professional-vape

Gather All the Necessary Printed Parts

IMG_4622.JPG

make sure you print all the necessary components gather'em all together , and compare them to the pictures above

Insert Magnets and Threaded Nuts

IMG_4619.JPG
inset nuts.PNG
IMG_4621.JPG

use a soldering iron to put the threaded inserts into their place, and for the magnets, i made their housing super fit, but they don't stick in place or they are a bit too strong and they get out of their compartments , you can add little drops of glue

Order the Pcbs and the Components

pcbs.PNG

Capture 3.PNG
Capture 1.PNG
Capture 2.PNG
Capture 4.PNG
pcb2.PNG

all the components you can find in the b.o.m file , for the pcbs choose whatever manufacturer you see fit, for me , I love JLCPCB

B.O.M files here : https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/home-made-professional-vape

Put the Solder Paste

solder paste.PNG

place the solder paste in every pad on the board, except the battery pads and the output pads

for this, you will need a syringe of solder paste

or you can add a little bit of money and order the PCB stencil, I prefer the first method since it's cheaper haha

Place Components on PCB

full components.PNG

place all the components in their places respectively, make sure they're in the right directions and the right place, always double check everything, and check if there are huge chucks of solder paste, as that will cause you some problems later

Place PCB on Heating Plate

pcb on heat.PNG

put the PCB on the heating pad, that's why I said in the beginning you need this tool, you can do it using a heat gun, but it's so messy and not practical, best way is to have this heating bed that can reach 260°C less than 5 minutes

Solder the Header Pins

header pin sold.PNG

Solder USB Port

usb solder.PNG

i say it again and again, solder the USB port before the battery holders, or you will have to desolder them to get to the USB, because it's just behind it

Solder Battery Holders

bat solder.PNG

before soldering the battery holders make sure they're not bent , if they are the will cause problem in the final design and the lid won't fully close

Solder the Screen

screen solder.PNG

soldering the screen is the most delicate part in this board you can check some online videos or on youtube on how to solder flex components , anyway you can figure out a way of your own or follow a video the important thing is that you solder it correctly

Instal 510 Connector

510 to top part.PNG

easy job , make sure you soldered some wires to the 510 connecter before mounting it to the 3d printed part

Add Top Part to PCB

top part to board.PNG

solder the whole top part to the PCB make sure to use perfect length for the wires , as there isn't much room for wires, also make sure they are a bit flexible and can pass enough current with heating

Verification Station

check.PNG
full circuit.PNG

control every component every value every solder joint every solder pad , every pin on the µc , with a multimeter check the continuity before some current especially continuity between + and -

Place the Button in the Main Body

button in place.PNG

now for the easy parts , put the button in it's place

Place the PCB in the Main Body

board in main body.PNG

be careful with this step , as i said the screen is sensitive , make sure you put it nice and tight with damaging it

Screw Everything On

board screws.PNG
mount top screws.PNG

you will need a total of 12 screw

i would say 8 of them are essential

the other 4 are for the screen lid , if they get stuck well you can help with the screws , otherwise you can leave screwless haha as i did with my design , no need to waste many screws

Add the Top Lid

close top part.PNG

Program the E-Liquid Device

upload code.PNG
prog headers.PNG
upload prog.PNG
products-usb-asp-isp-avr-programming-device-for-atmel-proccessors.jpg

plug the E-Liquid Device into the computer following the pictures above and if there is something you didn't understand feel free to leave it in the comments, for the programmer I used the one in the photos above, use whatever you want, then , if you are using the Arduino IDE click on the upload using programmer

the code can be found here:https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/home-made-professional-vape

Wrapping Up

atomizer in.PNG
put batteries.PNG
unlock.PNG

put the batteries in their place, make sure they are in the right direction, close the lid, and put your atomizer

by the way, you can use it with only one battery it works, I am a professional haha

The Final Result

after powering the E-Liquid Device with batteries, try to use it, you will encounter one of the screens above, depending on the situation

Make As Many As You Want

IMG_4605.JPG

for me it was kinda like a challenge i had to make more than just one , for the video sake also , it looks cool like i am a super villain that instead of buying the se commercially available one i just made a similar one , i hacked the matrix

they can't have me as a customer i am a maker haha

by the way i still have some parts for other 5 more haha , not sure if i will make them or not , it takes too much time

How Close It Is to Reality

look at the results i got in the end versus the device i designed , i consider this a win

enjoy your new DIY professional product, use it, and have a cup of coffee with it. take it with you wherever you want it’s portable, from afar it doesn’t look homemade at all. trust me I take it with me wherever I go no one ever asks me, why it looks weird. and whenever I tell people it’s me who made it, almost every time they don’t believe me but then I explain it to them and now after I published the video, they can’t help but believe me
