Cozy Neck Warmer

Make this easy Cozy Neck Warmer in an hour or two using basic machine sewing skills. I used Minky fabric but it could be made with Faux Fur, Fleece or flannel depending on your style, preference or cozy requirements.

Using scissors cut 2 pieces of fabric 36x5 inches.

Cut 1 piece of fabric 6x5 inches.

If you want a longer neck warmer increase the 36 inches by desired amount. If you want a wider neck warmer, increase the 5 inches by desired amount.

I used a 1/2 inch seam allowance in all sewing.

start with the 6x5 piece of fabric that you cut.

Fold and pin edges of the longer sides toward the wrong side of the fabric. Sew them down. This is just so the fabric does not fray. If you are using fleece or faux fur you can skip this since they will not fray.

Fold right sides together and sew along edge to form a tube.

Turn the tube right side out.

You now have a small tube with edges turned and sewn under.

Pin the tube you just created to the right side of one of your 36x5 strips. I pinned mine 4 inches from the bottom edge and centered it across the width.

Sew the two short edges in place where you pinned them. This has now created a loop.

Lay the piece with loop face up on your table. Place your other 36x5 piece without loop, face down on top of it.

Your two pieces should be right sides together with the loop on the inside. After sewing, we will turn it right side out.

Pin your 2 pieces together. Leave a 4 inch opening in the center. I usually mark the opening either with double pins or different colored pins so I don’t sew it completely closed.

Sew around, using a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Carefully clip across the corners to remove excess fabric. Do not clip into your stitching.

Reach through the 4 inch opening and turn your neck warmer right side out.

Fold edges of opening under and use a hand sewing needle to stitch the 4 inch turning opening closed. This will be behind your neck so if your sewing skills are lacking no one will notice!

Put neck warmer around your neck with the sewn on loop facing your chest. Place the long end through the loop and snug it up tight with one end over your shoulder or looser and leave the “tails” hanging in the front.

It looks great on its own or under a jacket.
