Woodworking Corn Hole

corn hole.jpg

My mom has always wanted to buy a corn hole set, but when we looked online, the cheapest we saw was around $40. I realized that I could build one for a lot less than that.

Supplies

  • 4 2x4x96"
  • 1 48x96x1/2"
  • Deck Screws
  • Drill
  • Jigsaw
  • Paint (any color)
  • 4 4" bolts with nuts and washers
  • Bean Bags

Fusion 360 Design

I used the designing software Fusion 360 to just get a visual of what I was going to build. I made it the same size that I was going to in real life. The actual size for corn hole is 12" tall, by 4' wide, and 8' long.

Start Building

I like to start off this build by building the "base". You can use one of the 2x4x96" boards, and cut it in half for the side lengths. Then, you can take another 2x4x96" board, and cut 2 21" pieces off of it. I took the longer pieces, and put a hole in it, so then it could hold the legs on. I then pre-drilled before I but the deck screws in, so then I had less of a chance of breaking my screws. When putting this together, you want to put the shorter pieces on the inside of the longer pieces.

Make the Top

After I finished building the base, I started on the top. I got my piece of ply wood, and cut it down to 2x4'. I the measured 9" down from the top, centered the circle, then cut it with the jigsaw. After I finished that, I put it on the base.

The Legs

Once I finished putting that on, I made the legs. I took the 2x4", and cut it down to 11 3/4" long. Then I cut the end off, and rounded the top, then put a hole in it.

Paint

After I got all of the pieces assembled, I painted it white, and am working on a design to put on it. It doesn't really matter what color of paint you use, so long that you use lots of coats of it, so then the bean bags can slide on the plywood.

Make the Other

After you have finished one of the corn hole boards, to play, you need another! You can have fun making, and painting, the other one.

There You Have It!

Well, that's it, you have your own corn hole game. Thanks for looking at this design, and have a fun time playing!
