Copycat In-N-Out Double-Double Animal Style
This is a recipe for a copycat In-N-Out Double-Double Animal Style.
The ingredients you will need to make the fantastic burger are:
- 2 lbs of Chuck Steak
- 1 Whole Onion
- Hamburger buns
- Iceberg Lettuce
- 1 Tomato
- American cheese
The ingredients you need to make the incredible In-N-Out sauce are:
- 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons of Pickle Relish
- 2 tablespoons of White Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
- A dash of Lemon Juice
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Slice Up Your Onion
Slice your onion into 1/4 inch thick slices. try to keep the rings unbroken.
Caramelize Your Onions
Caramelize your onions until they become a golden brownish color, or however done you want them.
Make the Patties
First you will want to grind up your beef. To do this take your chuck beef and cut it into 1 inch cubes. Try to leave most of the fat on the bee, as this will result in a juicier burger. Then use a meat grinder to grind up your beef. If you do not have a meat grinder, you can skip this step and just use ground beef from your store.
The patties you make should be about 4 inches in diameter and fairly thin. If you want to, you can make them differently, but that is what i suggest.
Cook the Patties and Make the Sauce
first oil your pan/griddle/grill with just a bit of oil, and then salt and pepper both sides of the patty. Next place it on your cooking surface. Before flipping it spread a dollop of mustard on the uncooked side. Then once you flip it place a slice of american cheese on the top. While you are doing this about halfway through toast your buns in the same pan/griddle/grill you are cooking the patties on. just before the burgers finish cooking arrange your buns, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sauce in preparation for when you are assembling.
While you are cooking the patties, you can make a copycat version of In-N-Out sauce. this is very simple as you just combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. The ingredients you will need for the sauce are:
- 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons of Pickle Relish
- 2 tablespoons of White Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
- A dash of Lemon Juice
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Assembly
The order of the content in the burger from top to bottom is: the top bun, a healthy dollop of the sauce, the caramelized onions, the 2 burger patties, tomato, iceberg lettuce, and the bottom bun.
