Cool Portable Fan / Duct Fan

Welcome to this Instructable on how to build a duct fan! For this project, I made a cool duct fan that helps to keep fumes away when soldering. It can also be used as a portable fan on a hot summer day. This project is easy to complete. Let's get started!

Supplies

To build a duct fan, you will need the following supplies:

  1. 3D Printer, any type of filament
  2. Mini rocker switch
  3. 1000 mAh LiPo battery
  4. 80x80 mm fan 5 - 24 V
  5. DC-DC Step Up Converter
  6. 4x M3x18mm Screws
  7. 2x M3x8mm Screws


Prepare the Frame

3D print the parts. It should be printed with support material, orientation does not matter.

Attach the Fan

Using 4x M3x18mm screws attach the fan to the frame as shown in the picture.

Attach the Step Up Converter

Now attach the boost converter to the frame as shown in the picture. 2 screws in a diagonal will be sufficient.

Glue the Switch

The rocker switch should be glued to the side of the frame.

Connect the cables as shown in the picture and close the cover. Finished!
