Cool Cardstock Cats
In today's story, Ganesha chased a cat around and grabbed its tail, which isn't cool behavior. Don't ever grab real cats by the tail! But these cardstock cats probably won't mind as much if you chase them. Probably don't pull their tails, though, because they might just come off!
Supplies
-cardstock or thin cardboard packaging
-scissors
-markers
-glue or tape
Cut Out a Square.
It doesn't have to be a perfect square! The thin cardboard package I grabbed from my recycling bin already had a nice square shape, so I just cut off the edges.
If you're using a piece of 8.5x11 cardstock, fold the bottom corner up until the edges line up. Don't crease it. Trace a line along the edge, and use that line as a guide to cut out the square.
Fold the Square in Half.
Now it stands up!
Make Your Cat's Body.
Cut a half circle on the opposite side from the fold.
It doesn't have to be perfect! I just eyeballed mine, but if you want yours to be neater, you could trace the edge of a large, circular lid or a bowl.
Make the Cat's Head.
Take the two half circles left from cutting out the cat's body, and arrange them together, overlapping them until they look like a cat's head. Glue them together.
You can trim the edges if you want to change the shape a little.
Decorate!
What color will your cat be?
Cut Out the Tail.
Take the leftover material from cutting out your square for the cat's body, and cut out a tail shape. I just freehanded mine, but you could also draw it first! Then decorate it, if you like.
Put the Cat Together.
Glue the head on the outside and the tail on the inside.
Enjoy Your Cat!
