Learn how to make really cool 3D pen jewelry! These pieces are super easy and look really good. It can be made in any color that you want, and it will complement every outfit. You can make earrings, necklaces, and pendants however you want, and you can even customize them by writing your name or making a pattern! The photos of these 3D pieces were taken in a super easy to make DIY Lightbox, which makes product photos look even more professional. Here is a link to that project: https://www.instructables.com/Easy-DIY-Lightbox/

Supplies

You will need:
-A 3D pen
-PLA Filament for the 3D pen (PLA is the best because it is the strongest, and doesn’t smell while extruding like ABS does. You could also use Wood filament or FLEXY if you want)
-Printer paper
-Markers or ballpoint pens
-Masking tape or clear 3D pen mat
-Necklace chain or string (if you are making a necklace)
-Jump ring (optional)
-Earring hangars (optional, if you want to make earrings)

Draw/print Out Your Shapes

To begin, grab a marker and a piece of paper and draw out the shape of your necklace or earrings. If you want to print it out that works too. Remember to draw your shape thick enough to be strong, and if you are doing an open object like a heart, draw a smaller inner shape so it is strong enough.

Cover Your Shape

Next, you’ll want to cover your shape. Masking tape works well, and if you have a 3D pen mat that works even better. If you are using masking tape, cover the entire shape with tape, and leave a little room around the shape in case you draw over the line by accident. Try and get the tape as smooth as possible over your shape to prevent lumps. Overlapping the tape slightly is good too.

Prep Your Pen

Next, go ahead and take out your 3D pen and turn it to the PLA setting. If you are using another filament like FLEXY, set your pen to the appropriate setting. Insert your filament, and extrude it until the correct color is showing. You can use any color you want: make this piece yours!

Start Drawing!

Start to outline your shape. Draw along the lines you created to create a base for your piece. Next, begin to fill in the shape. After you finish filling in the shape, add a hanging loop to attach a jump ring. If you are making a necklace, add the hanging loop on the top. If you are making earrings, put it wherever you want them to hang from.

Finish Your Piece

You’re almost done! After your piece has cooled, peel your piece off your paper or pen mat by bending it so the piece pops off. If you want to, attach a jump ring to the hanging loop so it will hang better. If you are making earrings, attach earring hangars to the jump rings. If you are making a necklace, thread a necklace chain or piece of string through the jump ring or hanging loop. Enjoy your homemade 3D jewelry!
