Cooking Timer Timelapse Tripod
Hi
Today I'll show you how I made a fun accessory for bringing your timelapses to the next level.

What You'll Need
A kitchen timer
A phone tripod
I picked both of these from a local dollar store. These ended up costing less than 5€ in total.

Disassembling the Kitchen Timer
I took apart the timer until I had the functioning internals lose from the casing.
Now it's time to figure out how it works.
The hat of the little coffee kettle winds up the mechanism. We'l use this part as the rotating part of the tripod.

Modifying the Casing
I didn't want my tripod to looks like a kettle. So I decided to rough out the car until it was round again. Filling in gaps with scraps of plastic and superglue.
Disassembling the Tripod
Same deal as the timer. Take it apart as far as I can.
We'll cut the top ball head in half as we will be inserting our rotation system in between.

Adding the Ball Head & Capping
Now it's time to add de ball head pieces to now reassembled cooking timer. I've cut down the base too.
I've capped the bottom part with scraps of plastic to give it some rigidity and make it look cleaner.
I used bondo to smooth out the connections and make a nice finish.

Painting the assembly!
Done!
And we're done. This project was quite different than all of my other projects.
I usually plan out my projects from start to finish. Doing this on the fly was very much out of my comfort zone. But I ended up liking the process just as much as my planned ones.
Make sure too view the video example. :)
