So I have some birthdays coming up and I wanted something unique for them. This cookie gift is so easy and a wonderful gesture. I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients

Now - this recipe does not include all the liquid ingredients. Those get put into the mix when the cookies are made.

1 3/4 cups flour

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cup chocolate chips (I recommend semi-sweet.)

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

First Step

First mix the flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Then pour into a quart jar. I'm using a funnel, because otherwise it would be all over the place.

Add the Best Part - Chocolate

Add the chocolate on top of the flour mixture. Make sure to pack it down tightly.

Some Sweet Brown Sugar

Add the brown sugar. The jar should be filling up by now. It's very important to pack it down. It will be helpful when you add the next step.

Add the Sugar

Finally, add the sugar to the top. And place the lid on top.

Decorate.

Make sure you attach a card with the following recipe to complete the cookies.

Preheat the oven 375°F. Beat 3/4 cup (or 1 1/2) sticks softened butter, 1 large egg and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract in a bowl until blended. Add the cookie mix and 1/2 cup chopped nuts if you want. Mix well, breaking up any clumps. Drop rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until browned. Cool on baking sheets for a couple of minutes and then remove to wire racks.

This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies.
