Cut & Trim

Cut an aluminum beverage can in half using a box cutter and scissors.

Trim the edge of the bottom half of the can with a pair of scissors.

Cookie Cutter

The round cookie cutter is now complete!

Cookie Cutter Version 2

To make a cookie cutter which can cut cookies which balance on top of a cups rim just cut a strip out of a can. Trim with scissors to make the strip straight. Straighten by moving the strip over the edge of a table. Draw a gingerman shape and bend the strip of aluminium to follow the outline, secure with sellotape.

Spoon Holder

A Spoon Holder can be crafted from a round cookie cutter, just cut a 'V' on the top edge for the spoon's handle to rest on.

The Spoon Holder is useful when you don't want to rest a spoon on the bench top, like when stirring a pot of porridge.

Sprouting Spring Onions

Spring onions can be sprouted by cutting the bottom 2 inches off the spring onion and placing it into to bottom half of a empty aluminium beverage can filled with water. After it has grown a bit it can be eaten or transferred into the garden.

Vegetable Freshener

Tired of limp asparagus or spring onions in the fridge? No worries, just create a Vegetable Freshener - like the round cookie cutter but make it taller. Place some water in the bottom of the can, then add the vegetables E.g. asparagus, you want to keep fresh.

Porridge Measurer

By trimming the bottom of a can you can make an excellent porridge measurer, ensuring you have not too much or too little - just right. Make another one for measuring the water.

Spirt Measurer

An inexpensive spirt measurer can be made from a 250mil beverage can (measuring 52 mm in diameter). Just pour in 30 grms of water and mark on the side, or measure 15 mms up from the base to get the correct size.

Parcel Opener

Remove the 'ring thing' from the top of a beer can. Snip the bottom bit off with a pair of snipers or strong wire cutters on an angle. Maybe try sharpening with a file. Once completed it will slice sellotape down the middle when opening most parcels
