Convert Your Relector Into a Bike Light!

What you'll need

  • A bike reflector bracket
  • Something that can slide into the grove where the reflect goes (Popsicle stick or whatever you have lying around will do)
  • A cable tie or a rubber band
  • You might need a longer bolt
  • And a flashlight of your choosing

The Bracket

This is the bracket I used, it's the kind that the reflector slides into. Discard the reflector (Keep it if you live in a place where they are required by law, such as the UK) . Find something that will snugly slide into the slot the reflector was held in. I used an extra divider from my tackle box, but I suspect a wide Popsicle stick or any number of things can substitute, it just needs to be long enough to cable tie, rubber band, or tie, your flashlight to, as you'll see in the next step.

Chances are your not going to find something the prefect size for the slot, so you might have to trim whatever it is your using down a little

Attaching the Flash Light

Its pretty straight forward, cable tie the light on. Use a rubber band, some twine, glue, whatever you got.

Mount It Here

The perfect place to mount your new light is just under the handlebars where it cant get in the way and clutter up your hand space. The bolt that came with the bracket will likely be too small to close around the stem but dig into your old bucket of nuts and bolts and you'll undoubtedly find one long enough.

Your Done!
