Convert LED Light Globe to Silver Crown Globe

We have three low hanging pendant lights over the kitchen island and use silver crowned globes to prevent the light blinding our eyes.

I got tired of buying expensive silver crowned LED light globes that did not perform to specifications. They claim to have a 3 year warranty but never make it past 18 months.

I literally had a "light bulb" moment last weekend and broke out the can of chrome spray paint to save yet another trip to the lighting store to get a replacement under warranty.

Its been a week and no sign of paint blistering or peeling off.

Supplies

LED light globe(s)

Can of chrome spray paint

Blue paint masking tape

Iso-propanol or methylated spirits

Wipe down the light globe with alcohol to clean the surface.

Apply the blue masking tape evenly around the globe. You can get creative and make a wavy pattern if you like.

Spray the unmasked top of the globe in a well ventilated area. Apply a couple of coats.
