Convert AXT Power Supply With Breakout Board the Easy Way
This isn't really an instructable Its more of a modification.
The project is so simple.
I made an angled enclosure case for the ATX power supply to hide all the wires.
I didn't want to cut any; Why? Because you just never know...
I put a slot in the front of the box so the ATX 24pin harness could be pushed thru,
and attached to the ATX Breakout board to the front of the box.
I didn't even screw the ATX board down. I used a piece of plastic from a bucket that was broken
so why not use a strip of plastic from it? (Yellow)
I drilled holes in it, and slipped it beneath the breakout board.
I also added a little handle to the top of the box. Pretty simple.
The values on the multimeter are pretty spot on;
even tho this is supposed to be a "12v" power supply;
I think its a little under powered at the 12v line;
Not the breakout board; but, the ATX Power Supply.
No worries, its close enough for me.
The max voltage that the adjustable portion is 10.8v according to the specs.
Mine makes it to 10.7. No complaints.
The 3.3 and 5v are pretty stable;
I'll be using this for lower voltages so, its all good with me.
I hope this inspires some of you to save an old ATX power supply from the trash.
The breakout board was less than 13USD in 2023.
Did you make one?
Supplies
The supplies were:
Drill bit
Drill/Driver
Philips #2 bit
Circular Saw
Sharpie
OSB (or any scrap you have)
Scrap Paneling (I wanted to keep it thin)
Plastic for handle and hold down bracket.
4 little feet so it doesn't move around on the work bench. (Orange)
Screws
ATX Breakout Board
and about an hour of time.
Thank you for looking at my little project.
