Compact Flux Capacitor IR Remote + Sounds
You: Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a cheap flux capacitor... out of a GW44207 box?!!
Me: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a Flux Capacitor into a box, why not do it with some *style?*
You: Great Scott ...
It's easy to print, lights effects, original sounds and all can be controlled by an IR remote! this is heavy!
Supplies
BOM mecchanical part:
-GW44207 box
-2 screws to fix the plate (black painted)
-3 screws to fix the relays
-25cm yellow cable d= 0.5-0.8mm
-19x140 transparent acrilic foil 1\2mmm thick
-20cm spun iron d=1mm
-transparet pla\petg
-red pla\petg\abs alternativelly you can paint the parts
-black pla\petg\abs alternativelly you can paint the parts
-golden or copper pla\petg alternativelly you can paint the parts
-transparent acrilic foil
-black tape
-copper wire 0.5/1mm diameter
BOM electronic:
I used the usb 5V as supply power so for leds i used the parallel configuration then each led as an resistor, if you use 12V supply you can use the serial configuration to save componets becouse you can use only one resistor for each "ring".
-1 arduino nano
-5 mosfet n-channel
-5 10k resistor
-5 33ohom resisto
-17 resistor of 270ohom or 4 resistors 82 ohom + 1 resistor 50ohom
-12 warm light leds
-5 white ultra bright led (for time travel fx)
-a IR remote control (for fx control)
-1 IR receiver tsop3328 or similar
-1 switch (for power on)
-1 mp3 player uart module for sounds
-1 pcb board
-some wires and comb connectors
Tools:
-dymo junior for labels (alternativelly you can print it)
-hot glue or similar
Print'em All
Print all parts from my pages:
here
https://www.printables.com/it/model/440612-compact-flux-capacitor
or here
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5545893
print with TRANSPARENT PLA\PETG tubo vuoto3x and cristallo 3x
print RED cappuccio 3x or paint it
print BLACK pannello 1x and 1x myseal or paint them
print golden or copper tappo3x and cilindrofull3x or paint it
print 4x screw cap if you want and paint in the same color of box
TIPS: for a scenographic switch protector you can print this flip switch cover by by @GiovaGio

A picture is worth a thousand words! then watch the foto attached to undestand hou to assemble the relays and main panel. Cut 3 pieces of 50mm of transparent tube end inset in the hole of relay transparent section. Cut a copper wire 60mm end put it in the tube. Uou can twist a couple of wires on the 2 terminals of the relay to make it more realistic.
use a driller and a file to give open the windows on the cover of box, you can usa catout.stl to make the hole or MYseal.stl as reference.
Do the same with transparent acrilic foil, try to make the shape of internal cover. Glue the acrilic foil and the "sealing gasket" on the cover, if you use hot glue pure it into a hidden strategic point.
put a black tape on the sides of each crystals, alternatively you can paint it black.

"A schematic is worth a thousand words! then assembly electronics according the schematic attached. use your fatasy for positionig of arduino and modules.
I added another version with less resistors. The difference is that in this version you can controll all leds with only 5 resistors instead of 17. there is the drawback that the current for each branch could be not the same so the brightness could be sligtly different.
Enter the Code
IR remote cotrol:
first of all you need to disscover the codes of your IR remote control, to do this you can found a lot of simple arduino project such as https://www.instructables.com/IR-REMOTE-DECODER-USING-ARDUINO/
try all buttons and note all codes i.e. in a excell tab or on a piece of paper.
Preparing micro SD card.
take an microSD card, you can recycle an old microSD card like a 128mb and download and copy all mp3 tracks in the SD card. It is important to give a numeric name like i do so don't rename them.
Load the code
download FluxCap.ino and replace the codes of you remote before discovered (had you take note of that right?) in the remote code section of my remote, assign the button that you want.
Now you can load the code no your arduino.
NOTE: this compact version need only 0.21 GW but it works only on small cars like a FIAT PANDA.
enjoy!
