Colors and Shapes Makey Makey

I had made a project that helps kids with learning their shapes and colors. This project is made for mainly younger kids and for kids with disabilities who are still trying to learn their shapes and colors. I created this project because I wanted to make something to help younger children and with something with color, learning, and fun!

• Aluminum foil
• Glue
• Paper
• Printer
• Foam Board
• Markers
• Makey makey kit
• Scissors
• Chromebook/Laptop
• Scratch program
• Alligator clips

1. Take a foam board and take paper to cover it. Glue the paper to the foam board.
2. Print images of a red square, blue circle, green diamond, and a yellow triangle.
3. Cut out the shapes and glue aluminum foil under the shape. Glue the shapes with the aluminum foil under it on to the foam board.
4. Split the foam board into four square for each shape with a marker. Outline the shapes with markers.

1. Create a new project on Scratch and create four different backdrops for each color
2. Add four sprites to represent each shape and code it to move to a specific spot and to change sizes
3. Make the sprites change costumes into characters for story telling and code for images to appear when talking about that color.
4. You can also code for the shapes to glide on to the screen by moving it under the sprite.

1. Connect the alligator clips to the Makey Makey and the shapes on the project. Make sure that the alligator clips are in contact with the aluminum foil.
2. Make sure that the alligator clips that are attached to the shapes and Makey Makey are corresponding to the buttons set on the scratch project.
3. Add an alligator to the ground on the makey makey but do not connect it to your project. This alligator clip will act as your ground.
4. When testing, make sure that you are pressing the ground while you are pressing on the shapes. Also make sure that connect the alligator clips securely.

When you press on a shape on the project, the shape you pressed on moves to the screen and the characters start talking about the color of the shape. The alligator clip that is connected to the ground is what you hold while you press on a shape.
