Collapsible and (Actually) Portable Guitar Stand
Guitar stands are one of the most important things a guitarist can have. However, all portable options in the market are very bulky and can barely fit in any guitar case. Thankfully, this guitar stand solves these issues! This guitar stand is around 20cm long, 12cm wide, and 2.5cm thick. The best part about this design is that it's very easy to make, so let's get started!
Supplies
You will need the following supplies to make this project:
- 3D Printer
- Wood
- Non-slip Mat
- Superglue
- Glue gun
- Rubber bands
The wood and non-slip mat can be acquired through junkyards and hardware stores respectively, while you can outsource the 3D printing to another person if you do not have one. I printed mine using the Ultimaker 3+ using a 0.4mm nozzle and ABS filament, but feel free to use any other durable filament if available.
Cut Wood Into Shape
Using the following blueprints, cut 4 pieces of wood into shape. Make sure that the wood you use is durable. Once cut, sand to smoothen the pieces out.
3D Print Parts
Print the following .STL files on your 3D printer. Once printed, ensure that the parts fit snugly and sand to fit.
Assemble 3D Printed Parts
Assemble the 3D printed parts to make the joints. If they do not fit snugly, sand down until the rod can fit inside the hinges.
Slot Wood Into Hinges
Slot the wooden pieces into the 3D printed hinges. The wood blocks should snugly fit into the hinges as these were designed to be friction fit. Should they not fit, add tape on the end of the wood to add thickness or sand them down to reduce thickness. Use a glue gun if the wood doesn't fit properly.
Add Non-slip Mat
Cut the Non-Slip Mat and wrap it around the front of the wood block. Wrap rubber bands around them to so that they stay in place. This makes it so that the guitar will not fall off while placed on the stand.
Done!
Now your portable guitar stand is ready to use! This should fit in any guitar case and can be brought along in your guitar journey. Have fun!
