*remove the glass top,
*remove the silicon glass top holders&kept for later
*Cover the rubber part of casters with painter tape (masking tape)
*working on the rust, used brake fluid, apply it on rusty areas, in this case almost everywhere and leave it for 24 hours
*24 hours later didn't need a wire brush just cleaned with Methylated spirits &water, no more rust
*Replaced the painters tape (masking tape) on the casters.

Primer

*Make sure to wear protective mask, be in well ventilated area, cover surroundings.
*Used rustoleum ultra cover flat primer
*Light coats
*Leave it to dry for an hour
*The paint I'm going to use recommend to do wet sanding after priming, so needing 400grit sanding paper and bucket of water for wet sanding, simply keep wetting the sanding paper and lightly sand it. Leave it to dry.
*Ready for the paint

*Limited paint supplies (coz of covid19) ,choose Dupli color chrome finish.
*Hoping to get similar finish as the lid indicates.
*Covarege is not really good, have to spray so many times on same section ☹️
*Looks very dusty , leave it for dry then buffing off.
*Buffing help to get cleaner look but not shinny
*Color not even near the lid , it's a brass gold look instead of chrome look ☹️

Top Coat

Screenshot_20210502-103452~2.png
Screenshot_20210502-103459~2.png
*Its not recommended using top coats for mettallic paints, as makes it look dull , but as u see; there's no shine at all, so using gloss top coat to achieve little bit of shine also more protection
*Waited 48 hours for safe application, as using top coats not in recommended time period can ruin the paint job.
*Used rustoleum ultra cover gloss top coat
*Again light coats , make sure to cover every section.

Working on the Glass

Screenshot_20210502-103641~2.png
*I'd like to add a mirror on the design so I removed the mirror from old wall shelving to reuse.
*Placed the mirror on the glass top ,making sure it's exactly on the middle then draw a line around & removed the mirror for now.

Working on the Design, Adding Crushed Glass

*Used modpodge gloss finish , with the sponge putting modpodge out of the circle been draw .
*Leave the modpodge around 10 mins to get tacky.
*Wear personal protective equipment for safety measures, and cover surroundings coz tiny crushed glass will drop everywhere
*Then placing first layer of crushed mirror glass, I make my own Crushed Mirror Glass ( u can find tutorial video link " how to make Crushed Mirror Glass at home" on description box. Coz I make my own supply I can generously use crushed mirror glass ( they abit costly to purchase),size& color I can choose whatever I desire to use.
So first layer abit thicker crushed mirror glass & one side gold in color
*Let it get dry abit then adding second layer of modpodge, then black color crushed mirror glass again let it dry abit
* After black color crushed mirror glass adding another layer of mod podge , this time placed silver crushed mirror glass then very tiny ones so fills in between empty spaces.
* After all the layers done, cover it with modpodge generously.
* Before dries cleaning the edges with wet cloth.
* Let it dry completely.. Drying time depends on the weather if it's colder takes longer time to dry.

Making a Strong Base

Screenshot_20210502-104152~2.png
Screenshot_20210502-104335~2.png
* This is a 2 tier coffee table & I'd like to use both but for placing another glass top I need to have strong base.
* To be able to use bottom shelf need to unscrew top layer to open it.
* This is an ikea product and normally ikea has parts& screws even for their old items but this time didn't have screws for this table. So I used strong hold glue - Selleys' Araldite epoxy adhesive- to be able to have strong base.

Putting Everything Together

Screenshot_20210502-104423~2.png
Screenshot_20210502-104458~2.png
*After the glue completely cured placed the glass top decorated with crushed mirror glass on lower level of the coffee table.
*Then placed back the top level and screw it.
* And adding large clear glass on the top( I used old glass table top)
* Then placing the mirror (took it off from the old wall shelving) middle of the bottom glass
* Cleaning the glass top " we almost there πŸ˜ƒ)

*Decorated & place it right under the gorgeous chandelier ,coz I got low ceilings (may some interior designers dislike this coz I dismissed their rules as having long pendant lights on short ceilings but I love having crystal chandeliers) as I can't make my ceilings higher so this large glass top will prevent a tall person to bumped their head to chandelier & looks so amazing at night when lights on, all that crushed mirror glass & large mirror gives such a good reflection its so sparkling.
Coz that much shine going on, the paint turned out brass gold instead of chrome finish not bother me anymore, it does make an even look.
""For SAFETY; if you have small children in the house place this kind of designs where those little fingers can not reach please.coz much of modpodge been used so won't really cut your hand but if modpodge missed tiny bit of crushed glass and you move your hands on that spot may cause an incident, better be safe than sorry""
Okayyy I hope everyone like this budget makeover πŸ€©πŸ‘ I love how it turns out , glamorous look achieved with budget makeover 😍πŸ₯° Let me know your thoughts pls πŸ™ Thank you ❀️
