Ingredient: A lot of okra seeds

Tools:

  1. French press
  2. Coffee beans grinder - I substitute with a blender because I don't have a grinder :-(
  3. A pair of scissor
  4. A pan (for roasting the seeds)

Completion Time: 20 minutes

Where to buy?

No need to buy if you plant your own okra.

When to Harvest the Seeds

Okra is best eaten when its edible green seed pod is tender and crunchy.

However, sometime I forgot to pluck in a day or two, and the pods become fibrous hard not worth to be eaten.

I wait for another week until the pod's skin become wooden and hard.

When the tip of the pod split open, you know that the seeds have mature.

Use a pair of scissor to cut the bottom pod's stem.

I tear open the pod to reveal the seeds.

The Roasting and the Grounding

I roast the seed in a medium heat until the seeds start to emit an aroma indicates its done.

When the roasted seeds still warm, I put it into the blender (even better if you have a coffee beans grinder) to ground it.

Note

You can grind it into coarse or fine depends on your likes.

The Steeping

I put the fine roasted okra seeds into the french press and add boiled water to steep.

The Brewing

I let it brews for a while.

The Taste

I press the french press and pour into a cup and then, I have a sip.

The taste? Just like a caffeine-free coffee!
