Preheat Your Oven!

I'm sure I'm not the only person who forgets to preheat the oven half the time! Before you start with the baking, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix the Following Ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl, add:

  1. 1 cup of all purpose flour
  2. 1/2 a cup of cocoa powder
  3. 1/2 a teaspoon of baking POWDER (Not baking soda!!)

Using a whisk, mix together until it's evenly mixed and there are no clumps.

(If you are using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt as well)

Melt the Butter

Measure 3/4 of a cup of butter into a microwave safe bowl, and microwave it for 1 minute. Your butter should be mostly melted, and if it isn't, microwave for additional 15 second intervals until mostly melted. Once your butter is ready, set it aside for the next step.

Mix the Following Ingredients:

In another large mixing bowl, combine:

  1. The butter from the last step
  2. 1 1/4 of a cup of white sugar
  3. 2 tablespoons of olive oil (Or another type of vegetable oil if you don't have any)
  4. 2 teaspoons of vanilla

Using your whisk, mix until all ingredients are mixed evenly.

Combine All Ingredients and Put in Mold

Pour the contents of one large mixing bowl into the other mixing bowl. Mix using your spatula, mix until there are no clumps left. When it is mixed, add 3/4 of a Cup of chocolate chips, and mix until evenly distributed. (If you want to add more chocolate chips, go for it! The more chocolate, the better!) Once your batter is ready, use your spatula to spread the batter evenly into your Mold. Make sure the corners are level with the middle so it cooks evenly!

Bake Your Brownies!

Once the batter is evenly spread in your mold, place the mold on a baking sheet and put it in your oven. Set a timer for 28-30 minutes (I would start with 28 minutes to make sure you don't burn them!). When the timer goes off, take a toothpick and stick it into the middle of the brownie. If there is uncooked batter on the toothpick, put the brownies in for another 2-3 minutes. Repeat this until the toothpick comes back clean. Once the toothpick comes back clean, take the brownies out of the oven.

Cool and Cut

Once you take your brownies out of the oven, let it sit for a few minutes on the cooking tray before moving the mold. Then, take the mold and put it on a cooling rack. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then cut your brownies into smaller pieces. I recommend cutting it into 16 pieces. Then, carefully take each brownie out of the mold and put it on the cooling rack. You can eat the brownies now, but wait until they are fully cooled to put them into a container. Enjoy!

Reflection

This is my favourite recipe to bake when I'm bored and need something fun to do. I have made this recipe a few times, so I've learned how long to cook them for, but the first time I made them, I burned them! I would start with 28 minutes the first time you make these just to be safe! Following the instructions exactly is important, because I have forgotten to add both the oil and vanilla before! Going in order makes it easier to remember all the ingredients. I love the simplicity of this recipe, and if you are trying to get into baking, this is a great place for you to start! While it takes a few tries to perfect it completely, it always tastes great! My favourite part is mixing all the ingredients together, and seeing it go from random ingredients to delicious brownie batter! I'm so happy to share this amazing recipe with you, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
