Bar tools such as your cocktail shaker and other things help create the perfect drinks. In order to combine ingredients together, the best method is shaking in a cocktail shaker.

Drinks that include fruit juices, dairy products, syrups, and other thicker ingredients should be shaken.

Avoid shaking anything carbonated such as soda.

Make sure to get all the juices out of the fruit and break it up sufficiently. This helps release flavors and scents from herbs such as basil or mint that elevate a drink's aroma and taste.
