Clay Critters - Turtle

T-I.jpg

What you need:

  1. 1 x 1 1/4-inch diameter ball of clay (BOC)
  2. 1 x 1/2-inch diameter BOC
  3. 4 x 1/3-inch diameter BOC
  4. 1 x 1/4-inch diameter BOC
  5. 2 x Super-tiny BOC
  6. Toothpick

T-1.jpg

Press bottom of largest BOC on flat surface to form a dome.

T-2.jpg

Pinch around bottom of dome to create a slightly flared edge, leaving about 1/2 inch unpinched.

With BONUS "Get Fancy" Tip!

T-3.jpg

Use side of toothpick to create a tic-tac toe pattern on dome.

Get Fancy: Use your toothpick to create cool patterns in your turtle's shell. Forget the squares; poke holes, make stripes, make swirls -- your turtle is your oyster!

T-4.jpg

Press 1/2-inch diameter BOC against unpinched area of dome to make the head.

T-5.jpg

Roll 1/3-inch BOCs on a flat surface until they're roughly 1/2-inch in length.

T-5(2).jpg

Press ends of 1/2-inch rolls against flat surface to create 1/4-inch high cylinders.

T-6.jpg

Press cylinders onto bottom of dome to make the legs.

T-8.jpg

Press two super- tiny BOCs onto head of turtle to create eyes, and press side of toothpick into turtle's head below the eyes to create a mouth. (Or again, do your own thing!)

.

Use finger to flatten last super-tiny BOC into a circle, then carefully shape into a triangle; press flat triangle against bottom of dome in the back, with point peeking out, to create tail.
