Clay Candy Cane Ornament

In order to make this ornament you will need:

Some type of polymer clay in red and white (I used Fimo soft)

A clean work space (I used parchment paper to make sure my area was free from pet hair)

Ribbon

Some type of needle tool (These can be purchased in the same area of your local craft store as the clay)

An oven

Roll Out a Red Strip and a White Strip

Begin by forming your red clay into a ball between your hands. Place the clay on your work surface and roll back and forth between your hand and work surface until you have a section of clay that is your desired length and thickness. Repeat this with the white clay.

Form Strips Into Candy Cane Shape

Twist together the white and red strips of clay until you have one piece. Roll this piece between your hand and work surface like in the previous step until the edges of the candy cane are smooth. Bend into a candy cane shape.

Insert Hole for Ribbon

Use your needle tool to poke a hole near the top big enough for your piece of ribbon.

Cook Clay and Attach Ribbon

Once your candy cane is made, cook it in the oven based on the specifications on your clay package. I baked mine at 230 degrees F for 30 minutes. Once it is cooled completely, thread your ribbon through the hole you made and tie a knot. Your ornament is now ready to hang on your Christmas tree.
