Clarion ADZ628R - Audio Input

Installing an audio input on that 'Clarion ADZ628R' car radio.

Supplies

Materials:

Cable for enabling the audio input, Solder, Audio cable (Left+Right+GND), A temporary normally closed push button.


Tools:

Screwdriver (Phillips screwdriver), Soldering iron, knife, scissors.


Knowledge:

You must be able to solder and disassemble and assemble devices.

Disassemble the Radio

Remove the top and bottom cover.

Remove the front panel part.

Remove the CD player (unplug the cable before removing it).

Remove the cassette mechanism (unplugged the cable after unscrewing it).

Solder the Audio Cable

On the underside of the radio on the Circuit board.

On this picture:

Yellow = GND

Red and white = Audio R+L

Enable Cable

On the circuit board on the back of the cassette mechanism, Cut the conducting track, and solder the wire (the wire for enabling the input) to it, like shown in the picture.

Reassembling

Lead the wires to the outside of the radio through the holes in the back, and reassemble the radio again.

Button

Connect the push button in-between the enabling-wire and ground, by pressing the push button, is should disconnect the cable from ground.

Audio

Connect the audio cable to a audio source, Like a phone or Bluetooth adaptor.

Done

Now turn on the radio (after reconnecting it) and push on the button you installed.

The cassette mechanism should move and the Audio input is enabled.

To disable it, simply press the button for ejecting the cassette.

You can still use cassettes on the radio.
