Circular Fire Pit From 12 Upcycled Pallets
We made this circular Fire Pit out of 12 repurposed wooden pallets, two types of tar, and of course, a lot of creativity. It's a unique and quite inspirational build!
The original project is here: Unique Circular Euro Pallet Fire Pit
Prepare Your Area
You need to prepare an area for your fire pit. Then, dug it down about four inches to accommodate gravel. You can make a large circle by putting a pointed stick on the ground in the approximate center of the area you want to modify, tie a string and then use some marking spray, or simply drag a pick to mark the area. Remove the dirt, include a pathway, and apply a weed barrier across the area. Then, fill the area with gravel, approximately four inches deep.
Build Your Fire Pit
Apply tar to the bottom portion of eleven pallets that you will set vertically. Coat up approximately ten inches or so to protect from insects and water. The gravel also allows for drainage to help the wood longevity. Next, secure the eleven pallets together, angling them to form a circle and allowing for an entrance.
Finishing Your Fire Pit
Create some areas to store pieces of firewood by using the pallets as natural shelves. Then, built cap pieces that cover and hinge so the storage areas can be filled to the top. Build four of these areas and then use more deck boards to cap the top of the circle, mitering the corners. You can coat in two types of tar to create the two-toned effect. Finally, to add some fun, custom scroll work, an old barrel, and a chair, and have your unique circular fire pit!
