Circuit Playground Express Light Up Stocking
Create a stocking that will light up green or red to symbolise nice or naughty for the holidays!
Supplies
Knitting Needles
2kg red yarn
2kg white yarn
Circuit Playground Express board
Knitting Needle
Threading Needle
Moss Stitch Cuff
STEPS 1-3 INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE FOLLOWED WITH THIS VIDEO
Cast on 16 knits onto a needle.
Knit 25 rows with moss stitch like:
Main Leg
Start stockinette stitch across the side of the cuff (knit one row, purl one row)
Begin shaping the heel by decreasing stitches on the right side of the work. Knit or purl 2 stitches together at the beginning and end of the row to decrease stitches.
Turn the heel by working back and forth on the remaining stitches.
Once the heel is the desired shape and size, pick up stitches along the sides of the heel to continue working the foot of the stocking.
Kitchener Stitch Cast Off
- Hold the two pieces of knitting with the right sides facing each other and the needles pointing in the same direction.
- Thread the yarn onto the tapestry needle and insert it into the first stitch on the front needle as if to purl and pull the yarn through.
- Insert the tapestry needle into the first stitch on the back needle as if to knit and pull the yarn through.
- Insert the tapestry needle into the first stitch on the front needle as if to knit and pull the yarn through.
- Insert the tapestry needle into the second stitch on the back needle as if to purl and pull the yarn through.
- Continue to alternate between knitting and purling the stitches on the front and back needles, pulling the yarn through each time, until all stitches have been worked.
- Once all the stitches have been worked, carefully adjust the tension of the yarn to match the rest of the knitting and weave in the ends.
- Use this strategy to work along the side of the stocking.

Using the website Adafruit create a code that on a loud sound will change the colour of the neopixels.
Upload THIS CODE to the neopixel from the laptop and then attach it to a portable battery.
Attaching Circuit Playground Express to the Stocking
Using a needle and thread attach the CPX to a small piece of fabric. Connect neopixel to the CPX using the following diagram.
now stitch this fabric onto the stocking with a runner's stitch.
