Circuit Breaker Failure Identifier

A long while ago a circuit breaker failure occurred at my friend's house and that caused a small fire in his room. After that, he replaced his breakers. But this time he wants to measure the temperature of all the main breakers in his house. So I told him to use his hand to sense the temperature. But he's afraid to do so. Then he asked me to do something very cheap to measure the temperature. So that's why I came up with this decision. You can follow this instructable to avoid such fire accidents caused by breaker failure.

PART YOU NEED:

Hot Glue Stick - ( at least 1.5cm/0.59inches per breaker) GET IT

You only need a part to protect your house from a huge fire. Isn't that awesome?

TOOLS YOU NEED:

Utility Knife GET IT

Ruler GET IT

Hot Glue Gun GET IT

Making an Indentation on Glue Stick

First align your ruler and the hot glue stick as close as possible. Then take your utility knife and put a small indentation on the hot glue stick for every 1.5cm/0.59inches. I only indented two spots on my glue stick, because I have three main breakers in my breaker box.

Cut Your Glue Stick

Then use your utility knife to cut through the indentation you've put on the hot glue stick. See the image. I've cut three pieces for three breakers.

Placing Glue Stick Pieces on the Breakers

After that, grab your hot glue gun and stick the pieces on the breaker.

There you go, you got yourself a cheap and safe circuit breaker failure identifier.

HOW THIS WORKS

When the circuit breaker fails to trip, it will allow huge amounts of current to pass through. That will make the circuit breaker to heat up. If the temperature goes above 85` celcius, the hot glue will melt. So our sticks will fall down. That is the identification of a circuit breaker failure.
