Cinnamon Toast
In this Instructable, I will show you how to make cinnamon toast. I grew up eating this easy homemade cinnamon toast recipe. The brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter smeared onto a slice of bread then baked in the oven until toasted and the top caramelizes, oh so yummy. You can eat it as a dessert, snack, or for breakfast! It is definitely a childhood favorite and super simple to make. If I can do it, you can do it. Let's get baking!

Follow the super simple steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both. :)
Ingredients and Tools
Print the recipe here if you like.
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread, use whatever kind of bread you want
- 1/4 cup softened, room temp butter (56g)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar or you can use white granulated sugar (50g)
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon (3g)
Tools:
- Sheet pan
- Parchment paper or a silicone mat
- Bowl Spoon
- Fork or spatula
Make the Cinnamon Sugar Paste
Begin by preheating the oven to 350 F/176 C. Then in a medium bowl combine the softened butter, brown sugar or you can use white granulated sugar, and cinnamon, which is the star of this recipe. Mix together well with a spatula or a fork.
If you forget to put the butter out at room temp to soften, you can put it in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds to soften it. Or place it in the preheated oven in an oven-safe bowl for a few seconds as well.
Spread and Bake
Now just spread that yummy goodness across the four slices of bread. If you want to spread it on thinner you can use up to 5 to 6 slices of bread, all depending on the size of the bread of course.
I like to do equal dollops of mixture on the slices first before spreading, to make sure I get them fairly even and don't run out.
Bake them for 8 to 10 minutes on the middle rack. Once that is done. Turn the oven to Broil and crack the oven door open and watch it as the top caramelizes. This will go pretty fast so don't take your eye off it, if you do it will probably burn on you, which isn't very fun. It will only need 30 to 45 seconds on broil.
When they come out of the oven they will be nice and golden brown on the toasted edges of the bread and the sugar will be caramelized.
Enjoy!
Now all you need to do is let them cool for a few minutes before serving them up. Be careful, though, the sugar on the top gets really hot, so make sure it cools before handling the cinnamon toast or biting into it. Enjoy!
