Christmas Tree Peak

Christmas peak made of tree, instead of a tree, or alternative decoration.

All you need is a glue gun, a collection of branches about 1/2 inch thick, and some bows or vases to mold the peak on.

Model

With some tape I piled up a few bowls and a vase on top of each other. This is going to be the top side. Later I will add a lower side. These bowls and vases can be glass or ceramic, or even plastic. Glass and ceramic are easier to keep unstuck when gluing the branches.

Glue the Top

Start with 5 or 6 pieces of branch, each 3-4 inch long. glue them in a circle and mount them around the peak. Add more pieces upward and downward creating as much triangular shapes as you can. Shapes with four or five sides are less sturdy so add diagonals in square open spaces

Keep Adding

Keep on adding branches downward until you you hit the table on all sides. While adding check if your work doesn't get stuck on the glass or ceramic bowls. Remove all threads lefft by the melting glue.

The Base

For the base I used the same half circular bowl as for the top so the sides will fit together. The lower part has a more straight shape. We will start with the upper bowl placed upside down on the table.

Bowl 1

Make a circle from 7-8 pieces fitting the base of the bowl. Place it on the bowl and add more sticks going downward.

Keep in mind that a triangular shape makes it more sturdy. Keep on adding until all sides reach the table.

Bowl 2

Remove the glass bowl and place your work, right side up on the second bowl. Add more branches. Keep in mind that the whole structure will have to stand on this rim so it really needs to be strong.

The Rim

Close the rim on the table with pieces of branch, making it a strong closed circle.

Assembling

Put upper an lower part together. I could place them on top of each other without glue, and without falling. On all sides add glue and pieces of branch to connect the two pieces. Remove all remaining threads from the melting glue.

Pull a string of Christmas lights inward through the base and connect it in a few places with some string on the inside. Place it between other "natural" Christmas decorations
