For cookies:
1 cup of butter
1 cup white sugar
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 egg
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups all purpose flour
Christmas cookie cutters
Two mixing bowls (one for dry ingredients, one for wet ingredients)
A wooden spoon to mix
Rolling pin
Parchment paper
Pan
For frosting:
9 tablespoons warm water
4 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons meringue powder
Food coloring (I used green and blue)
A wooden spoon to mix
What You'll Need
Preheat
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Butter and Sugar
In a bowl, with a wooden spoon, beat butter and sugar together until smooth
Add Vanilla and Egg
Then add the vanilla extract and egg into the sugar and butter is completely mixed together.
Mix Dry Ingredients Before Mixing Them With the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients and then pour a little at a time into the wet ingredients. Mix this all together with the wooden spoon.
Roll Out the Dough
Don't chill the dough in the fridge. Put powdered sugar on the counter and roll out the dough then use the cookie cutters to make your shapes.
Put Them in the Oven and Then Let Them Cool
Put into the oven and let them bake for 6-8 minutes. Once they're done, take them out and let them cool before frosting them.
How to Make the Frosting
For the frosting, mix together the powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until its smooth with no lumps.
The Frosting
Separate frosting into however many colors you want and add a drop of food coloring to the frosting, or however much food coloring you need to get the color you want.
Finished Result
Frost your cookies and then you're done!
