Christmas Star - Wooden
Its Christmas time and I wanted to do something different using recycled materials. Unfortunately any creation has to pass the WIFE test!
Supplies
5 strips of reclaimed wood - I cut mine 5 feet long by 3/4 inch square.
NOTE: I pre-painted my wooden strips WHITE for effect.
Suitable screws - I used 2" long No. 6
Suitable drill - I used 3mm
Cordless drill
Drilling Wooden Strips
Start by laying out 5 strips, then mark for drilling (use an offcut for hole positioning). Drill all the ends with a suitable sized drill bit (mine was 3mm).
Assembling
Using a screw, join 2 strips together at one end to form a 'V' shape.
Repeat this with another 2 strips.
Next place the two 'V' shapes as shown in the picture to form an 'open' star shape.
Next screw one leg of each 'V' shape together. You should now have used 4 strips.
Now connect the 5th and remaining strip to form the star, and screw all the ends together.
Finally adjust the 5 sided form into a star shape, then drill and screw at a crossover point to secure the shape.
Fix the Star
Last step is to fix your star to the outside fence. If you've used 2" screws they should be long enough to pass through into the fence and secure the star.
Thats all there is to it!
I added some lights to my stars - and they passed the WIFE test!!!
