Christmas Multi-Layer Wooden Ornament
Hello everyone! With Christmas just around the corner, are you already brainstorming ways to add some DIY charm to your holiday vibe?
Today, I'd like to share a super beginner-friendly wood cutting project—a multi-layer Christmas ornament. This draws inspiration from a classic lighthouse design, but with a festive twist: we've added snowflakes, Christmas deer, and snowman to make it the perfect addition to your holiday decor. The entire process only requires laser engraving, laser cutting, and simple snap-together assembly—no fancy tools or skills needed. The finished piece makes a stunning desktop display or hanging ornament, ideal as a gift under the tree to sparkle with holiday cheer.

Engraving: Speed: 15000mm/min, Power: 70%, Air Assist: Off.
Cutting: Speed: 450mm/min, Power: 90%, Air Assist: On (to minimize smoke).
The entire cutting process takes only about 20 minutes. You will end up with 5-6 precisely cut pieces of wood with smooth, knife-like edges.
Simple Snap Assembly
Assembly is the easiest part—like building with blocks!
- Apply a thin layer of wood glue to the slots on the base (basswood).
- Stack the cherry body layers next: press firmly (glue spreads evenly, no overflow).
- Place the walnut layer on top: for a lit-up, 3D effect.
- Assemble the snowman by adding the body, hat, and arms.
Clamp lightly or weigh down for 30 minutes to let the glue set. Once dry, the ornament stands on its own or hangs (drill a small hole in the top for ribbon).
