Christmas Light Foil Stars

IMG_4670.JPG

These are stars that will create an amazing affect when looking at them. The idea for these came from Pie Tin Christmas Tree with GE Color Effects LED Lights By BillT3. I saw the effect of the lights on the pie tins and I came up with the idea for this. I use 16 setting lights that I got from Target. To be affordable I got 60 count lights.

Materials

To make this light idea you need:

  • Reynolds Fun Shapes Foil Stars
    • Hard to find and when found, they are expensive.
    • There are other companies that still make them for much cheaper.
    • Dollar Tree might have them.
  • A Sharp Knife
  • Christmas Lights, Preferably Mini lights
  • Cable Ties (AKA Zip Ties).
  • Electrical tape or duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Cutting Board
  • !!!!!TIME!!!!!!

Depending on what you do, this can be easy or hard. You can substitute the stars for any other foil thing it is your choice for size.

Setting Up the Stars

To get the stars ready for the lights you need to make a hole for them to go through. I used my Leatherman and I cut a small "X" through the stars' center. After I did that to one I put the light through to make sure it would work. The pictures show that. Next you cut the "X" in all the other stars. You do not need to test out size unless you want to. Mine turned out all fine, and some of them I didn't test.

Placing the Lights

Next I took the lights and put them on the railing of my porch with cable ties. Make sure that they are tight and not dipping down. The cable ties are hard to be pulled tight.

Putting on the Stars

Now it is time to put on the stars. I put them on the lights and then taped them to the railing and the light. This is the longest part of making this. If you have any questions, especially about this part, put them in the comments. This part I cannot explain well, comment with ideas on how to explain it too.

Be Amazed

These lights can be seen from a block away. They are amazing when they are blinking also. Along with other lights, they look even better.
