Christmas Candy Sleighs

Hi. My name is Jenna. I can help daycares make a simple but yummy treat. I help daycares bring Christmas joy in with this simple and easy Christmas treat. Today, I am going to show two simple but easy last-minute treats to make. When the children run home with their new treat, they are going to be so excited and, in the Christmas, awaiting from the excitement on Christmas morning.

Supplies

Before we begin, gather all your supplies. With the first treat the supplies needed are mini candy canes, mini candy bar, your choice of frosting or melted chocolate, and graham teddy bears. For the second treat the supplies needed are large or small candy canes, a Kit Kat bar, mini chocolates, some ribbon with a bow(optional).

Unwrap

To start the first treat, start by unwrapping all the candy and getting two teddy bears. Once it is all unwrapped, take two candy canes, one mini candy bar, I chose Snickers, frosting, and two graham teddy bears. Then, take your candy canes and your Snicker and put a line of frosting on the candy canes then put the Snicker on them.  To make it easier cantip the base over, so the candy canes stick up to allow the frosting to harden, but it’s not necessary. To help the kids they can also spread the frosting all over the bottom of the Snicker so, it’s easier to stick to the candy canes on it. When it’s being made, it’s best to put the candy bars in the fridge to keep them cold so then they are handled they don’t melt as easily.

Sleigh Riders

After the base is made, it’s time to put the little sleigh riders on. The easiest way I found to get the teddy bears to stick is to cut them in half.  It’s hard to try and push the teddy grahams into the Snickers. Once they are cut in half, you need to put frosting on the part you want to stick to the Snicker. Then they just stick the 2 teddy bears down and let everything dry. They hold up nicely once the sleigh is dry. This is the simple two step candy project you can make with kids.

Santa Sleigh Project

For the second project, the supplies needed are a warm hot glue gun, the Kit-Kat, 2 large candy canes, 10 mini-Hershey bars, with your choice of ribbon and a present bow if you want.  This will be a harder project to do with super young kids. But it could be a super cool present for the kids to give their parents. For the picture I just showed the candy I used but you can change it.

Base

To start this project, we need to make the base. To make the base we need to glue the candy canes to the big Kit-Kat bar. Everything will be left in the wrapper, so it is all edible. To do this put a strip of glue on the bottom of the Kit-Kat then stickit the candy cane. After this you need to hold the candy canes in places, so they don’t move around on the wrapper. They might have to put more glue down once the first layer of glue dries.

Decorating

Once the base has been created, they can put it up right so its sitting like a sleigh. After this, put the mini chocolate bars down to get them to stay, they need to put a few dots of glue on each of them. You can make them a pyramid by putting 4 on the first layer then 3 on the second layer and keep building up. They can make a sleigh with a seat by putting 4 on the first layer and then 3 but put them as far back on the first row, then keep building up by putting them as far back as possible.

Final Step

In the end, they have a candy sleigh. To finish this up, I can wrap ribbon around it to make it pretty and put a bow on it. I sometimes put a bow on it to cover the knot from tying the ribbon. These steps aren’t required but they just add some cuteness to the end. I could also add name tags to the ribbon, so we know whose is whose.
