Chocolaty Cobweb Brownies
I've seen this technique used before with cupcakes, so I decided to make a brownie version for a Halloween party this year.
It's super easy and the results always turn out great!
Ingredients & Supplies
To make these chocolaty cobweb brownies, you'll need:
- Brownies
- Chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet)
- White chocolate chips
- M&Ms (I used peanut M&Ms)
The supplies you'll need are:
- Circle cookie cutters or a muffin pan
- Toothpicks
- Piping bag (or a Ziplock bag that you cut the corner out of)
- Wax paper
Brownie Batter & Bake
Mix up the brownie batter and bake. I used two different mixes (Chocolate Supreme & Dark Chocolate) and added walnut pieces to one of them.
You can see that I also put some brownie batter into a muffin pan. I did this so that they'd be in a circular shape and still have the edges (for those people who insist on brownie edges!). Like the purchasers of this pan.
Cutting With Cookie Cutters
Choose two differently sized circular cookie cutters and punch out as many brownies as you can. You can see the different colors of the brownies, because I used two different mixes.
Feel free to snack on the trimmings! Mmmm...
Melt & Pour Chocolate
Melt some of the chocolate chips and spoon it onto the brownie circles. Use the spoon to spread it into a thin layer.
Pipe Rings of White Chocolate
Melt some of the white chocolate chips and fill a piping bag. First, pipe a dot in the center of the brownie circle. Then, pipe rings around the center.
For my brownies, I piped either two or three rings depending on the size of the brownie.
Toothpick Time
Using a toothpick, position it in the center of the brownie and slowly move it outwards. Do this about six times evenly spaced around the brownie. Now you have a lovely spider web!
Keep Going!
Use the same technique for all of the brownies. Just add more rings for the larger brownies.
Spiders
I ended up with some extra melted white chocolate, so I used M&Ms to make spiders. Roll out a small piece of wax paper. Pipe a dot of the white chocolate and add three legs on each side. Then, place a M&M in the center. Push it down a little so that it sinks into the white chocolate. Let them cool.
Once the spiders have cooled, peel them away from the wax paper.
Enjoy!
Arrange the spiders on the spider webs. I chose to place some in the center and some to the side. It's best to melt a little more white chocolate and place a drop where you want to put the spider. Press down a little so that the spider sinks into the melted white chocolate. This acts to keep it glued in place.
Enjoy and Happy Halloween!
