Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies

Cookie!!!.JPG

These cookies are based on a very simple recipe I've known for a long time, from the Ikea children cooking book. The original recipe makes m&m cookies :D that are very delicious, but I wanted to try something else. I came across thumbprint cookies, filled with jam, and immediately knew what I wanted to make: chocolate thumbprint cookies. Because I known this recipe always succeeds , this is the recipe I wanted to base my cookies on.
My pictures aren't of the same quality as usual, but this is the first project I did in the kitchen, and I discovered that it's actually too dark to take good pictures there. But, I hope you like it and try it out!

Ingredients

To make these cookies you will need the following (these ingredients will make about 20 cookies)

- 200 grams of flour
- a pinch of salt
- 75 grams of caster sugar
- a sachet of vanilla sugar
- 125 grams of butter (I used liquid butter, solid butter works as well)
- chocolate (I used about 60 grams because that's what I had, but I would recommend to use more, about 80/100 grams will do)

- a baking sheet
- baking paper
- an oven (otherwise those cookies aren't going to be)
- a small pan
- a metal bowl that fits in the pan
- a spoon
- a spatula

Making the Dough

Start by adding the flour, salt, sugar and vanilla sugar (So basically everything except the butter). Make sure the ingredients are well mixed together. (and yes, I like to do that with my hands)

When they are mixed, add the butter (now you NEED to use your hands) and mix it. After a few minutes (longer when using solid butter) the mixture will become a dough and you will be able to make it into a ball.

Preheat the Oven

At this moment, let the dough just be dough and go preheat the oven at 200 degrees.

Prepare Your Baking Sheet and Add the Cookies

Cut your baking paper and add it to the baking sheet.

Take small pieces of your dough and roll them into balls. Before adding them to the baking sheet, press your thumb in to make the thumbprint part. Be sure not to put them too close to each other, otherwise they will stick together while being baked.

Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes on 200 degrees.

When the cookies come out of the oven, it's possible the thumbprints have almost completely been straightened out. Don't worry, just use a spoon to adjust this while the cookies are still hot. (I'm sorry about that picture, but I think it explains a lot)

Next boil some water and add it to the pan. Put the bowl in the water and add the chocolate piece by piece. When the chocolate has molten, use a spoon to add it to the cookies and a spatula to get it out of the spoon.

Enjoy!

Now it's entirely up to you! Are you going to eat them immediately, letting the chocolate run out as you take the first bite, or are you going to wait until the chocolate has hardened and you can really bite through the chocolate?

I hope you liked this instructable and will try it yourself :)
