Chocolate Peanut Sourdough Cookies

These sourdough-based cookies are a lovely alternative to traditional cookies. They're a good option for children as they are not loaded with additional sugar, plus they have a nice chew factor.

Let's take a look at how they were made.

Ingredients

To make the dough you will need:

  • 300 grams flour
  • 80 grams Sourdough Starter
  • 3/4 C fruit juice concentrate
  • 3/4 C peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • Cold water to mix
  • 1/2 C prune butter (See Step 5 of our LOL Biscuit Bun)

Sieve the flour and cocoa then mix with sourdough starter, fruit juice concentrate and peanut butter.

Warning: This May Get Messy!

Mix together thoroughly, adding water sparingly to make a soft non-sticky dough. Leave this overnight for the sourdough to work through the batch.

Use a fork to flatten each cookie then bake for 30-35 minutes at 180C (360F) or until they spring back from the touch.

The children in your house will love these served with milk...preferably in a screw top jar which for some reason our kids love.

I hope you enjoy these cookies!
