Chocolate Coca-Cola Mousse
Hey guys, today I'm bring you an interesting recipe: Coca Cola Chocolate Mousse! WHAT! I know it sounds so weird but it works out (unless you get clumps, but even those and satisfying). I definitely need to work on my mousse and gelatin skills ;-) If you want to know how to make your own chocolate Coca Cola mousse, follow the step by step guide below or watch the video tutorial here:
Ingredients & Tools
Ingredients
- 2 packs unflavored Gelatin (7 grams each)
- 5 T cold Water
- 1 Egg
- 1 Egg Yolk
- ¼ C sugar
- ½ C Chocolate Chips
- 1 C Coca Cola
- ¾ C Heavy Whipping Cream Whipped cream for decoratin
Tools
- Hand mixer
- Whisk
- Spiral Whisk
- 3qt Sauce pan or any pan for double boiler
- Pyrex bowl
The Gelatin
Sprinkle gelatin over a bowl with 5 tbsp cold water, stir a bit and let it dissolve for a few minutes.
Egg Mixture Over Double Boiler
In a heat safe bowl, over a double boiler, whisk together egg, egg yolk and sugar and cook for about 8 minutes until thick and creamy, whisking constantly.
Add Gelatin to Egg Mixture
Warm up gelatin and water mixture over a double boiler until it liquifies again and add egg mixture.
Melt Chocolate Over Double Boiler and Combine
Melt chocolate over a double boiler and add it to the egg, sugar and gelatin mixture. Mix until combined and let it cool at room temperature.
Add Coke and Cool!
Carefully whisk in Coke, it may seem like it is way too much coke and far too much liquid but go ahead and keep whisking until combined. Once it cools, the coke will combine with the gelatin. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes, until it begins to thicken. Keep an eye on it (Stir 2-3 times).
Whipped Cream.
Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
Add Whip Cream to Mixture.
Add whipped cream into chocolate mixture. (You might want to use a whisk, instead of spatula). Gently fold the mixture until it is combined.
Place Into Serving Cups
Spoon mousse into serving cups. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Cool and Enjoy!
Remove the mousse from refrigerator, decorate with whipped cream, serve and enjoy!
Strangely enough this Coca Cola chocolate mousse has an oddly satisfying taste. The coke is not overpowering, but there is a hint of it in every bite.
Enjoy!
