In this Instructable, you will learn how to make chocolate chip cookies. These cookies can be made for bake sales, parties, or even a snack for the house. The prep time will take about 15 minutes, the cookies will bake for 9-12 minutes, and the recipe makes about 5 dozen delicious cookies.

You Will Need:

An Oven

Cookie sheet

Oven Mitts

Measuring Cups and Spoons

Wax Paper

All-purpose flour

Baking soda

Salt

2 Sticks of Butter (softened)

Granulated sugar

Brown Sugar

Vanilla Extract

2 Eggs

Gather all the ingredients and materials you will need. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line the cookie sheets with wax paper or sprinkle flour onto the pan to prevent the cookies from sticking.

Dry Mixture

Take 2 ¼ cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt and combine it into a small bowl. (I like to take a whisk or fork to sift the flour a bit because it gives the cookies a better texture)

Wet Mixture

In another larger bowl, beat 2 sticks of butter, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, ¾ cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (For the butter to soften, leave it out for at least an hour to get it to room temperature. If not, put the butter in a microwave safe bowl and heat it for 10 second increments until soft.) When this mixture is creamy, add each egg in one at a time and continue mixing until everything is mixed together (second picture).

Mixing Wet and Dry

Once the wet mixture is creamy, take the dry mixture and gradually mix it together. Once it is completely mixed together, you should have a ball of cookie dough. Then, stir in your chocolate morsels (For my liking, I use milk chocolate, but feel free to use semisweet, white, or dark chocolate morsels). Pictured is the wet and dry mixtures before putting in the chocolate chips.

Prepping the Dough

Prepare the dough to put onto a pan for baking. You can use a tablespoon or just roll the dough into a small ball and put them onto a cookie sheet. The smaller the cookie, the more you will have, so depending on the size you choose, you may have 4-5 dozen cookies.

Baking!

Bake the cookies for 9-12 minutes (When the middle of the cookie has risen and looks soft is when I take the cookies out so that they are not too crispy and are soft).

Enjoy Your Cookies!

Remove the cookies from the pan and let them cook on a cooling rack or plate (I leave the cookies on the pan for about 2-3 minutes before removing so they can cool, but not long enough where the cookies are stuck to the pan).
