Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
This is a sweet gift. Chocolate and bananas are one of my favorite flavor combos and since Christmas is right around the corner, I decided to do a test to see how this recipe would hold up in a festive shaped pan instead of the boring but efficient loaf pan. :) It does well and is a fun way to give your friends and loved ones a sweet treat.
Items Needed
shaped pan of your choice (you could get a snowman and dust it with powdered sugar-that would be sweet)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 cups bananas(mashed) as over ripe as you can get them or if you can be patient enough to wait (as you can see I couldn't wait to taste this delicious bread)
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
yellow chocolate melts to make a star
star cookie cutter
any other candies that you want to decorate with
pam spray
325 degree preheated oven
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 cups bananas(mashed) as over ripe as you can get them or if you can be patient enough to wait (as you can see I couldn't wait to taste this delicious bread)
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
yellow chocolate melts to make a star
star cookie cutter
any other candies that you want to decorate with
pam spray
325 degree preheated oven
First mash the bananas with a fork and measure it out. In one bowl put the flour , baking soda and chocolate chips. In a separate bowl cream together butter and brown sugar. Now stir in the eggs and mashed bananas well.
Combine the banana mixture and the flour mixture, mix gently by hand. Then I sprayed my pan with pam and poured the batter into the tree pan. Then put it into your preheated oven and bake. Check it at about 45 min. You may need to bake an additional 10+ min. when the toothpick comes out clean it's done. Let cool completely.
If you chill your bread for a little while (20+) this step will be a little easier.Place the cookie cutter on a piece of wax paper.Spray with pam. Melt some yellow chocolate melts and carefully, pour it into the star cookie cutter. Chill in the fridge for at least 20 min. then carefully take the chocolate out of the cutter. Use the left over yellow chocolate to "glue' a toothpick to the back of it. Let chill. In a piping bag, melt some chocolate chips or chocolate melts (any color you want) Microwave them at 50 % power in 20 second intervals until melted.Carefully insert the star at the top. WARNING: Be sure to tell whoever you give this bread to that there is a toothpick in it. Decorate it however you want. Be creative and have fun doing it :)
